Start with the group, then choose the game
A good online trivia night does not need a long setup. It needs a party code everyone can use, subjects the group wants to play and enough room for everyone joining. Tidbit Party lets the host create a game and share its code while each player answers on their own device.
If you want to talk while you play, keep your voice or video call in the app your group already uses and let Tidbit handle the questions and answers.
Check the party size first
A free host can run a trivia party for up to four people, including the host. A Premium host can run 10-player parties and choose from every party mode. Joining a party is free: the host decides the party size and the modes.
Higher or Lower parties need a Premium host. For the simplest free setup, play a trivia party and keep the group to four people or fewer. The limit includes the person hosting, so a host plus four friends needs a Premium host.
Set up your first trivia night
- Open Party from Tidbit and create a party. Choose the game and settings available to your host account.
- Choose the subjects and difficulty for your group. For a mixed group, ask everyone for a subject before you start.
- Share the party code in your group chat. Ask each person to join on the device they will answer with.
- Check that everyone has reached the lobby, then start. Keep any separate voice call running if your group wants to talk.
Three ways to make the evening yours
- Take turns choosing subjects. One person picking every topic can turn a shared game into their specialist round.
- Agree on difficulty together. A relaxed first game gives everyone a chance to understand the controls before you raise it.
- Choose the stopping point in advance. A short game is easier to organize than an open-ended evening, and the group can always choose another round.
Before you send the code
- Count everyone, including the host. Four in total fits a free trivia party; five to ten needs a Premium host.
- Choose the host and game first. Higher or Lower needs a Premium host even with a small group.
- Send the call details separately from the party code if you want both. Everyone needs their own device for answers.
- Agree on subjects, difficulty and a stopping point before starting. Keep the lobby open while people join.
If the group wants to discuss answers, agree on that before the game rather than halfway through it.
Tidbit is for ages 13 and above and does not have a kids-only content filter. For family groups, make sure that fits everyone taking part. Want to explain the comparison game before inviting people? Read what to check on a Higher or Lower card.
