Choose the breadth of your game

Freeplay’s settings let you choose General or All knowledge. General focuses the selection on questions marked as general knowledge; All opens up the broader subject mix. Neither option guarantees that you will know every answer.

The question bank spans subjects such as geography, history, science, music, and film. Use the Subjects controls when you want to adjust which topics are included. The game settings affect what you play, without sending you to a separate website for every subject.

A useful way to practise

1. Begin with a difficulty that leaves room for a few surprises.
2. Choose an answer before looking it up. A guess can show you what you already know.
3. Read the explanation when you miss an answer or want more context.
4. Increase the difficulty when the current setting stops feeling interesting.

Play for curiosity or for a challenge

Freeplay has no lives to lose and no round timer, so you can stay with a question for as long as you like. If you want a score and a finish line, Modes describes the other challenges. Party lets you turn the same interest in general knowledge into a shared game with friends.

You can start Freeplay without signing in, subject to the free daily question allowance. Additional modes require Premium. The explanation is part of the game: there is no need to browse an answer directory before you begin.
